Frederick Crews did this kind of thing better...

... but it's interesting to see the journal of the Canadian Medical Association tackling Winnie the Pooh at all. I don't like the bit about single parents, though! Is it really "highly likely" that Kanga will "end up older, blowsier, struggling to look after several joeys conceived in casual relationships with different fathers"? Say not so! Anyway, I much preferred Crews's vision of her as a smother-mother, emasculating the Lawrentian Tigger before sending him off with Piglet for a "sexless dejeuner sur l'herbe" [quote from memory - I must find my copy of the Pooh Perplex].

Given I saw several versions of Picasso's depiction of Manet's painting yesterday (see, say, http://www.angel-art-house.com/oil_painting_details.aspx?ID=1079 for the general idea, but not one I saw) the mind is boggling.
