This is something I fret about, given that I wear kurta salwar much of the time. I do that because I'm physically more comfortable in them than in Western clothes. I'm clear that they are my clothes and that I'm not playing dress-up. I've only worn a sari once, and that was dressing up (it was an event on a trip to India), so it's not anything I plan to do again.

Thus far (after about eight years) I have only received favourable reactions from Indian people, though I do get a lot of surprised looks both in the UK and abroad.
