Somehow that reminds me of my discovery that some people use the phrase "fifty-fifty" not as any indication of the likelihood of two possible outcomes, but merely as a rote phrase to indicate that the outcome is unpredictable, even when (as eventually determined in this case) the odds are actually more like 95%-5%.
