The Japanese are like little children, so merry and full of pretty ways, and very quick at taking in fresh ideas; but they don't think or reason much, and have scarcely any natural affection towards one another.

Aghk.

(Although on some level interesting, because some of that is not what I thought were the prevailing stereotypes of the time.)

I think it is neat to have the kind of family that turns up in unrelated research.
