Werburgh Warnings

These two home-made signs, seen in St Werburgh's today, convey both the feisty and the laid back sides of that unusual community, ten minutes from here by footpath but a world away in terms of atmosphere and architecture. (Have I ever told you about St Werburgh's a weird mixture of Shangri-La and Moomin Valley in the middle of Bristol? If not, I will soon.)

The first is next to the Farm Pub - possibly the politest No Parking sign I've seen this year. Do take time to admire the pub wall, complete with mad cow.

The second is nearby, beside a small group of allotments threatened with being sold off.

The folk of St Werburgh's look a little flaky, but they know how to get things done. If I were a developer I would take this friendly advice and back slowly away.

Thanks - both pleased me, but especially in combination.
