Balcony Alchemy

At least once a year I make a crumble from the apples growing in my garden and the blackberries growing wild a hundred or so yards away. Free food always was the most delicious - but if I ever manage to move house, this will be the last year I do it, I suppose.

Plenty of blackberries hereabouts depending on where you are considering moving to of course! :o(

I do like a crumble. I've been comparing notes via Whatsapp with my Bristol friends and this is more evidence that the blackberries of the west are in advance of the blackberries of the east. Have seen very few ready to pick here!

oh, good memories of a friend who used to do the same thing with jam! blackberries are invasive weeds here (growing anywhere people aren't actively cutting them back) and i love walking the dog and eating handfuls off the bush wherever i go.

That looks amazing. I do love blackberries but all the places I used to pick them from as a child have now been cleared and built on :( and the commercial ones are never as good.
