I've always liked Clevedon Pier, but I only just realized how strongly it recalls the Moomins' bathing hut...

Are they by any chance related?

I don't know, but looking at them makes me happy.

We need a Moomin event, clearly.

You bet!

I long to go to Moomin World the way some kids long for Disneyland.

Oh, goodness, yes, even if the adult-size characters are a little perturbing.

That is lovely.

The Mumins (as they are named in the finnish-swedish original) were there first, I trust?! Or...more, sort of. Anyway, their bath-house is not only more intriguing but also looks far more real somehow.

Oh my gawd, have they now created a Disneyland out of my childhood memories?? I wonder, if Tove would have liked it. Or Snufkin. Or The Muskrat, who never likes anything in the first place but reluctantly agrees to enter the Mumin home when the comet comes because "noone wants to have a cold tummy when the Catastrophy Cometh".

The Moomin version occupies a Platonic space, and can therefore claim priority.

Wasn't there a kind of pleasure dome affair in The Memoirs of Moominpappa? I'd like to imagine Moomin World as being on those lines, if anything.

I think they must be, Charlie!
