 Diana Wynne Jones: A Conference

: 3rd- 5th July, 2009
Location: University of the West of England, Bristol.

This is the first conference ever devoted to the work of Diana Wynne Jones, Britain’s foremost writer of speculative fiction. In the last four decades Jones has produced a huge range of innovative fiction for children and adults, including the Chrestomanci series and Howl’s Moving Castle. Amongst her many awards are the Guardian Children’s Fiction Award, two Mythopoeic Awards, and a World Fantasy Lifetime Achievement award.

The conference will be held in the University of the West of England in Bristol, the city where Diana Wynne Jones has lived for over thirty years. Accommodation will be available at the University. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and dietary restrictions can be catered for. Free wireless internet is available to guests staying at the University. Note that Continental Airlines offers a non-stop flight from Newark to Bristol.

Participants include: Susan Ang, Charles Butler, Martha Hixon, Deborah Kaplan, Farah Mendlesohn, Maria Nikolajeva, Jenny Pausacker, Diane Purkiss, Teya Rosenberg, David Rudd, Andy Sawyer and Jean Webb.
