Sticking with Charlie as a source text, I'd like to see a film that faces the book's colonialism head on.
part of that could be tackling the white supremacist rewriting of history later, as in charlie when the narration asserts that they were hungry and wonka saved them from that hunger by kidnapping them. the whole disgusting "but at least slaves were given food and shelter" lie, which is, horrifically, something people in the u.s. still say.
