For the Classicists
May. 25th, 2011 08:56 pmI watched Horrible Histories with my daughter this evening, and was particularly tickled by the section on Roman Gods Direct. (The Athens/Sparta Wife Swap parody was pretty good too.)
I really rate the TV series of Horrible Histories - and more so than the books, which just don't have the same line in smart pop culture references. Who can forget the Four Georges singing Born 2 Rule, for example? At least as good as Westlife, for my money (though it bugs me that they don't seem to realise the relationship of George II to George III).

It's astonishingly erudite considering its level of silliness; its only real inaccuracy is that most curse tablets were made of lead, not stone, on account of it being cheaper. This was the one I discovered the series with. "Why has God forsaken me with only lady babies?"
