Depressing gender stuff

A couple of months ago I had a very pleasant evening with gair and gerald, watching Ma Vie En Rose (not the film about Piaff - the one from 1997, about a transgendered child). That had a happy ending, but it seems there are still children undergoing the same kind of cure-by-bullying.

More worryingly still, Kenneth Zucker, the guy promoting this "cure" (so remiscent of "cures" for homosexuality as peddled by dealers in snake-oil to this day), has just been named Chair of the panel revising section on gender identity disorders for the new edition of the American Psychiatric Association's bible, DSM V.

Surely some mistake?
