As a former resident of York I'd like to see his body repatriated, but it does look as if Leicester has it sewn up, legally.

Ah. I was hoping for York also. What's the argument against?

As far as I can gather, permission for exhumation (or maybe just excavation) was given on condition that any remains be reburied in Leicester Cathedral.

I will still wouldn't rule out some Raids from the North, though! Richard may be the new Stone of Scone.

Midnight grave-robbing. Yorkshire lads might be up for't.

I gather it is a standard requirement that exhumed bodies be reburied in the nearest consecrated ground. The car park was deconsecrated at the Dissolution, so doesn't count.
