Either way, I'm excited, because Four British Fantasists has just been declared a finalist for the Mythopoeic Scholarship Award for Myth and Fantasy Studies, for the second year running.

I'm paying my children to do the celebratory dance while I go off for a Radox bath...

Thanks! Perhaps it's better if I just try to look all English in an Anthony Head sort of way. This year the Mythpoeic Conference is being held in New Britain, after all, which can only bode well. (I wrote 'Little Britain' first time, which would bode rather less well.)

Congratulations on your cleverness and cleanliness!

I don't suppose you can make it a hat-trick next year? Presumably there's some reason why it can qualify as straddling two years...

Thank you!

It can be nominated for up to three years following its publication. I think it'd be disqualified should it win, so this extra honour is really a kind of reward for last year's failure. But hey!

But you look all English in a you sort of way, don't you? And it might be Mythopunnic if held in Little Britain ...

Yes, that's her. My "win" icon. The one above is a silver naval good-luck votive (from Italy, if memory serves).

Wahey! Congratulations!

Thank you, btw, for recommending Philip Reeve's Here Lies Arthur, which I devoured over the weekend and thought was excellent.

Wahey - I like that variant! It has a touch of the skirling pipe about it. Thanks - and now I can't even remember recommending the Reeve, but it certainly is excellent.

It was ages ago, and I can't even remember the context (perhaps talking about possible TV adaptations of the Arthur story?). Anyway, my 'to be read' pile finally filtered it to the top last week.

Thank you! Belated and heartfelt is a very acceptable combo - as fans of Persuasion will agree.
