I think he's wrong that the Murdochs planned all along to close the NotW and replace it with the Sunday Sun. I think they would have integrated the papers but kept the name, so that in essence you would have been getting the Sun seven days a week, but on Sunday it would still be called the NotW, in the same way that the Observer retains its name as it slides further and further into being the Sunday Guardian. Which in a way makes it fortunate for the Murdochs that this has happened now, as it might have been hard to close down the NotW without taking the Sun down with it. This way, they could be okay as long as they keep the Sun out of the scandal - oh, oops.

Couldn't agree more with everything else he says, however.
