Harping and Carping
Jul. 4th, 2012 08:34 pmOff to Chew Stoke today to see a man about a piano. Checking it out beforehand with Google Streetview, I was taken with this Thomas the Rhymer style allegorical junction: narrow, briar-beset Pilgrim's Way, the broad expanse of Pagan's Hill, or the bonnie road to Bristol?

Date: 2012-07-05 01:31 pm (UTC)(To get to Devon from South Wales, Bristol is unavoidable, especially if you hate the M5. There's a slipway that leads down from the Severn Bridge towards Bristol which we call the Swan Road. One day Z asked why we called it the Swan Road, and we had to explain that once, many years before he was born, three swans had flown over our car as we were driving down it.)
