I bailed at the rage of Achilles
I couldn't hang on for the rest
I don't know if Hector
Escaped his bisector -
I'm sure it worked out for the best.

On the other hand, if you'd like to hear the whole thing, the Almeida and British Museum are livestreaming the whole of the Iliad today, starting in about 20 minutes.

You're awesome.

(And apparently I hear it read in the voice of Michael Flanders.)

That's extremely cool. In Greek? In different translations? Sadly, I have to go to bed!

I suspect in translation, but I know no more! I dare say it will be downloadable at some point...

Hector?

I somehow don't think you're referring to this chap!

You're too kind! (If I have seen farther, it is by standing on the shoulders of old blind poets.)

That made me giggle. Splendid little poem.

Thank for the heads-up, somehow I'd completely missed this was happening. I came in around half-past five and stayed through to the bitter end (it just finished about 1.00am) - probably good timing for getting most of the good bits while missing the catalogue of ships and at least some of the more list-like battle scenes :-) Some excellent performances, again especially though not only towards the end. In sum, it was - quite literally - epic :-)

Good! I dipped in and out, but caught most of Ben Whishaw at least.
