Two days in advance of Coming Out Day, this person bravely decided to come out as an idiot. Sorry, fjm, altariel, papersky, et al: it turns out that putting "female" and "SF" in the same sentence is liable to tear a hole in the space-time continuum that you could drive a double decker through. (Oh wait, David Tennant's already done that.)

I don't think it's trollery, unless the site it comes from - complaining about the lot of oppressed men in the modern world - can be considered a troll magazine. Which perhaps it can, in fact: the-spearhead.com seems designed to do for gender what spearhead.com does for multiculturalism. They're all very phallic fellas, in a manner of speaking.

I looked up MGTUW and found it meant Men Going Their Own Way (because, I strongly suspect, they can't find any women to go that way with them). There's a website I don't recommend visiting unless you want to be depressed. It made me echo a remark by a character of Vonnegut's in Cat's Cradle: "If I were a younger man, I would write a history of human stupidity".

(Whoops, sorry, that is an SF book and I iz not meant to like it coz I iz a Grrrl....)

Yeah, swisstone pointed me to that via Facebook. Yeesh. I do have to laugh a little at the totally non-ironic 'sign' that the group uses. Scalzi has posted a nice comment about it at Whatever
