Sorry, I know nothing about this except the general rejoicing at the new Mayor's election. We have our own election to worry about in Australia right now - at least those who don't like him can move elsewhere in England till he goes. If our Federal election turns disastrous we'd have to leave the country! :-( And it's a double dissolution election, which means that if the current government wins they can call a meeting of both Houses of Parliament and simply ram through all the loathsome pieces of legislation from which a hostile Senate protected us this time.
Oh, I wasn't expecting non-Brits to have a view, especially on the Bristol mayoral election - that would be taking political geekism to an extreme!
It's hard to believe that the party of Abbott and Turnbull we will another term - but that's what I always say before rightwing parties sweep to power... (Good luck!)
Thanks! I am checking the polls regularly - at this stage, it's 50/50. But it's downright scary, the thought of another Coalition government, and if they do get there, I will blame everyone who knew what they are and voted for them anyway.
I know nothing of either London or Bristol mayoral elections, but for what it's worth, Durham County Council has just agreed to sign up for a regional deal which will involve us electing a "mayor" for the entire region. Interesting times.
